Bottom Fishing: January 1 through December 31. We nearly
always limit when conditions allow us to fish the ocean! Sea
bass are most common, also Ling Cod, Kelp Greenling and
Cabezon (Cabezon can only be retained July 1 through
Spring Chinook: March 1st through May 10th. (subject
to mid season changes). This is the most difficult local fishery
to be successful at, but also produces the greatest prize in
Northwest Sport Fishing. Each year, commercially caught
Spring Chinook start around $50/pound! The best eating
salmon in the world!
Summer and Fall Salmon: Fisheries managers have announced
the 2019 ocean salmon season. Dates are June 22nd through
September 30th. We are expecting excellent ocean salmon
fishing this year with over a million Coho (silver salmon) forecast to
return to the Columbia river system. It should be excellent.
August 1st marks the beginning of world famous Buoy
10 fishing in the lower river. Typically, a million Chinook (King
salmon) pass right in front of Astoria on their annual migration up
the Columbia river. Anglers best chance all year of catching
salmon. Book early because this fishery is very popular. As buoy
10 fishing slows, the Coho (silver salmon) are right behind
them. This years forecast is the best in years. Typically
we catch them through the end of October.
Sturgeon: Retention dates are May 13th through June 5th,
Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays only. This opportunity
is very limited. These fish are truly awesome! Call, text or
email to take advantage of this amazing fishery.
Catch and release Sturgeon fishing is always open, starting
mid May for best results, through early August. The closer
you are to July 4th, the better fishing, it seems. Sturgeon
fishing in the lower Columbia river is nearly unbelievable.
People get off the boat saying its the best day they have
ever had fishing. Biggest fish, most fish. Its incredibly fun!
Dungeness Crab fishing: September, October, November
and December. We nearly always limit out with 12 delicious
Dungeness crab. You will not find better crab anywhere in
the world. Sweet, delicate and incredibly delicious.
Steelhead Fishing: December through early March is
winter Steelhead time. Drift boat fishing feels like a Tom
Sawyer/Hucklyberry Fin float down the river with a chance
of a chrome bright aerial flier that swims four directions going
a hundred miles and hour. Fun fun!
